Hi,

I paid $450 + about $25 or so in tax for the FHD2400 during Circuit City -$100 sale event last year. After about seven of these monitors I've finally received one with no dead/stuck pixels (last I checked), however it does have a fair amount of back-light bleed on all four sides (I guess I can live it with for now). With the Pixel issue out of the way, I started think about the Circuit City extended warranty.

The plan costs are:

Circuit City Advantage Protection Plan: 2 Year - $50 (11% of price "no tax")
Circuit City Advantage Protection Plan: 4 Year - $80 (18% of price "no tax")
Circuit City Advantage Protection Plan Plus: 2 Year - $80 (18% of price "no tax")
Circuit City Advantage Protection Plan Plus: 4 Year - $120 (27% of price "no tax")

You would have to go with the "Plus" plan since it seems to be the only one that covers screen issues (stuck/dead pixels - back-light bleed), the normal plan does not. But after doing some quick Google searching, there looks to be quite a few horror stories about the Circuit City Advantage Protection Plans. So I'm interested to know, for those that bought this at Circuit City, what plan did you buy if any? Is the two or four Plus plan worth it?

The Circuit city advantage plan is a seperate assurance carrier but not a insurance contract and has been hard if not difficult to get thru to... The real company is Federal warranty Service Corp of Alanta in all states but CA.where it is Sureway Inc of Alanta... phone 1 800 555 4615 they'll put you in a queue max 10 line it takes 1/2 hr or longer, even though the auto receptionist states longer than normal call volume... waits are claimed to be a bit longer, about 10 mins, Then you get disconnected.

If you go on line The auto assist queue stated 10 in line it takes also 1/2 to 45min befor you get the queue your next button , then states there are no representatives available then it holds you at your next in line queue till you give up ...
the last time I got thru was 7/21/09 on a land line,my cell died after a hour on hold and two calls, reguarding a laptop repair that was authorized by advantage, sent out "via radio shack" as now in NH they carry Advantages claims service and after 2 weeks turn around , I was only to be denied by the Central service Depot group as physical damage, DUh warranty That was to cover accidential damaged like the picture that fell on the laptop and crack the screen
I've sent a complant to NH insurance Dept at Concord. Any Class actions happing Let Me know
Still wading and trying to resolve with some sense of hope call me a dreamer

Sabrina L.: Thank you for contacting Contract Administration

Support Chat, my name is Sabrina. I will be happy to assist you

today.
Sabrina L.: Can I get your phone number used for your extended

warranty please?

randy: Sabrina
randy: Gosh Hmmm It could be several different # but I'll try ,my

daughters
randy: ***-***-****<--- whom the Contracts registerd under

Sabrina L.: I'm sorry but that phone number is not associated in

our database. Is there another number that the contract would be

under or do you have the receipt for your purchase?

randy: Sure maybe My wifes ***-***-****
randy: hmmm sorry I don't remember the one we gave in Nov of 08
randy: Maybe you can help anyway...

Sabrina L.: I am sorry but that number is not associated in our

database. What is the name or names that the warranty would be

listed under and the state purchased in?

randy: My question is how can I tell what plan I purchased by

looking at my reciept and or my PCkit?

randy: Hmmm Probly My daughter..
randy: ASHLEIGH ***

Sabrina L.: While I locate the warranty, could you please verify

the name, address and email address the warranty is registered

under?

randy: sure it was registered by Circuit city Store 4115 224 Daniel

Webster Highway Nashua NH, 03060

Sabrina L.: I have located a warranty but the address does not

match the information provided.

randy: Hmm thats whom we bought it from

Sabrina L.: What is your address?

randy: IT was sold to my daughter
randy: ohh sry
randy: * ********* Drive
randy: sry

Sabrina L.: Thank you. To ensure that we have the correct warranty,

what is the model and serial number of the product?

randy: My question is how can I tell what plan I purchased by

looking at my reciept and or my PCkit
randy: model ********
randy: sn/*************

Sabrina L.: Thank you. I understand that you wish to know what type

of warranty that you purchased. I would be glad to assist you.

The warranty that was purchased for this computer is a Circuit City

Advantage plan. This covers for power surge, technicial support, 1

battery replacement, and hardware failure. It does not cover

physical damage to the computer.

randy: is it possible if you could answer my question I put to you

sabrina

randy: My question is how can I tell what plan I purchased by

looking at my reciept and or my PCkit

randy: I trust you should be able to tell, but I am in disputed

over what was sold to us and I would like to verify

Sabrina L.: I understand your question. I am trying to get the

information direct from the receipt of purchase. What is the name

specifically of the items that were sold?

randy: how can I tell what plan I purchased by looking at my

reciept and or my PCkit

randy: Are you able to tell we what Assurant Solutions Listed as a

plus plan model number?

randy: What PCkit went with that plan model Number?

randy: ANd the CostOf that service?

Sabrina L.: We are not able to tell you what the cost of the

service would have been as we do have access to the prices. What I

can tell you is that if it only lists a Circuit City Advantange

Plan. That is a normal plan and does not cover accidental damage

which is what we have on records.

randy: Sabrina I'm not trying to give you any trouble I just need

to know if you can answer my past question if you know...: how can

I tell what plan I purchased by looking at my reciept and or my

PCkit
Are you able to tell we what Assurant Solutions Listed as a plus

plan model number?
What PCkit went with that plan model :pt1cable:

randy: apparently I Am Questioning the validity or the claim that I

purchased a basic plan

randy: and need to know how I a cunsumer could verify :hello:

Sabrina L.: Sir, I have already answered that questions. We are not

able to provide you that information. If it says that you

purchased a Circuit City Advantage Plan than that is the plan that

you purchased.
Sabrina L.: I apologize I meant that I have already answered that

question.

randy: Sabrina is there any way I can obtain
randy: a way to verify what CC used as a
randy: plan number to distinguish the difference
randy: between a basic plan and a plus plan/

Sabrina L.: The PCkits and models numbers do not affect the

advantage plan. We sold two different warranties. If it has listed

on your receipt of purchase a Circuit City Advantage Plan than you

did not purchase accidental damage
. If it has listed on your receipt that you purchased a Circuit

City Advantage Plan Plus than it covered accidental damage.

randy: Ok
randy: the reciept is abreviated :heink:

Sabrina L.: We go by what is listed on the receipt. We do not go by

plan number because each store may have a different plan number

listed. It would be either a Advantange Plan or Advantage Plan

Plus.

randy: What was the abrivation for the lus plan
randy: oops plus ;)

Sabrina L.: If you tell me how the receipt is listed, I can tell

you what plan you purchased.

randy: 1 csp
randy: to me thats an abrevation for a plus plan and thats what

were told at Circuit city when we bought it
randy: but i might be wrong

Sabrina L.: If you think that you purchased the protection plan

plus, you may fax in a copy of the receipt. We go by what is

listed on the receipt. Our warranty group can review the receipt

and they will be able to confirm if it was a regular plan or one

that covers accidental damage.

randy: but since I don't know the variance between the plus and

basic plan I need help to tell the diffence
randy: whom do I fax this to Please

Sabrina L.: If you think that you purchased the protection plan

plus, you may fax in a copy of the receipt. We go by what is

listed on the receipt. Our warranty group can review the receipt

and they will be able to confirm if it was a regular plan or one

that covers accidental damage.

randy: but since I don't know the variance between the plus and

basic plan I need help to tell the diffence :pt1cable:

randy: whom do I fax this to Please

randy: and that was the basis of my question
randy: how can I tell what plan I purchased by looking at my

reciept and or my PCkit
randy: I just need a fax Number to send it to thanks :pt1cable:

Sabrina L.: You will need to fax your receipt into (877-885-2786).

Please include on the fax current contact information and your case

number of 13922382. It takes about 3 business days to process the

fax. If you contact us back on Tuesday between the hours of

8am-5pm Central Time, We will be able to determine if the

accidental damage plan was purchased.
Sabrina L.: I apologize, but normally from the receipt of purchase

we can tell what was purchased. Each store has their own way of

listing items but to confirm that you did not or did purchase the

plan our warranty group can research this for you.
Sabrina L.: Is there anything else I can assist you with today?

randy: Sabrina Excuse me I have Had A head Injury In the Past Any

way you can Send or E-mail me this
randy: chat session :pt1cable:

Sabrina L.: You can save a copy of the chat by pressing file and

save chat log at the top of the screen.

randy: Cooleo thanks for your time have a better weekend

Sabrina L.: You are welcome. Thank you for choosing Contract

Administration Chat Support. Please return to www.cityassure.com/ra

for future support needs. After you close this window, you will be

directed to a brief 'Customer Survey'. We would appreciate if you

took the time to complete the survey.
Sabrina L.: Have a good day!

Ended Chat Session @ 10:48 am with sabrina Who seem polite enough,

but did not answer my questions that I repeaditively keep asking . :pt1cable:

How can A customer tell on their receipt what Plan they purchased?

Not that I don't take the word of the representative whom Claim my

wife and I Didn't purchase a protection plan," for MY then 17 year

old", daughter whom is a saint, never broke , spilled or dropped

anything in her life.... :non:
She may have inadvertanly give me some additional insight into the

workings of a disputed warranty claim and how this business deals

with upset customers...
Should I take their word as that, I don't think so... :ouch:
I know what we were told, what was claimed to have been sold us,

Whether or not, whoms at fault, including our own,I would think

that This Company Should be able to answer a basic Question with a

basic answer!
If the receipt is abbreviated what is the symbols for the two

different plans....
Cost Of the Two Different Plans..

Their response:
Now fax us A copy Of an Abbrevated plan designation and Hope they

wont refuse to honor what we were told and sold because quote" We

go by what is listed on the receipt. We do not go by plan number

because each store may have a different plan number listed."
:non:
Excuse me!!!

Each store has different plan Numbers! Ok, whats the Plan Numbers

used at The Nashua Store? :pt1cable:

We should have a clear Understanding before, after and during

disputed claims,
Without having to rely on A party that leans towards the Company

Warranty, is employed by the Company to resove disputes.

just a responce to all the questions about ccity protection plans and basic stuff you should know.

if you purchased a plan make sure that you are not still in your manufacturers warranty. if you are and you send your product in for service under the ccity protection plan you will most likely get screwed out of the money you paid for the item.

i was a customer service associate at ccity and believe me i know this stuff like the back of my hand. a lot of the items that offered you a protection plan was pretty much not worth it! the only things i can honestly say that it was worth it for was tvs and cameras. if you got it for any thing else u got screwed out of money. most of the items it would just be cheaper to get another one.

you also should have been given a protection plan packet that tells you everything you would need to know about you particualr plan. the best thing you can do now if u did not recieve that packet is to contact assuriant soultions 1-800.852.2244 or go to their website www.assurantsolutions.com. they are the ones that were ccitys outside provider of extended protection plans.

when you call the ccity protection plan lines they should have a record of your reciept if the purchase was over 100.00 if not you should have a copy of it because they can look it up by the transaction number and date and the model number. if you do not have a copy of your recipt hopefully they can do something for you if you have not spent 100.00 or more at ccity on that particular day, otherwise you might be screwed.

that is the basics if you need further info post your comments and i will be back on to check if you have any more questions. i hope this info will help you out a little so they cant bull *** you out of the things that you were guarenteed that you would recieve.
