Several weeks ago I left a message asking for help and suggestions about
programs that started all by themselves. The problem is solved and it had
nothing to do with Windows.

Those that self-started were local email, calculator, browser, media player,
and windows explorer...whatever program was the default. If the default
email was Natscape, it started and not Outlook or Outlook Express.

I notice a set of "hot keys" on the wireless keyboard (it's not mine) that
were the very same programs as the self starting ones. Hmmmm.... I replaced
the wireless KB with a wired one and the problem went away. Put the wireless
KB back and the problem returned.

The wireless KB has been gone now for about a month and so is the self start
problem.

Just thought you guys might want to know.

Doug,
Thanks for that info!
Wonder what was triggering/interfering with the wireless signal?
Or just a flakey keyboard.

No idea, but I can tell you the problem was maddening. I suspect a
malfunctioning keyboard. I'm no stranger to stray RF and the devices that
emit it. The board was an el-cheapo an frankly I was glad to see it gone.

Hi Doug,

Whose are/were they? Did you try removing them to see if that mattered?
