Need helping choosing a laptop
Aug 13, 2009, 7:46 AM
Hi, I'm in need of a desktop replacement / college laptop. I was looking at the Sager NP8662 and the ASUS G51VX-X2 but wanted some outside insight before making a decision.
1_What is your budget?
I’m hoping to keep it around $1500, but can go up to $1800.
2_What is the size of the notebook that you are considering?
15 to 17 inches.
3_What screen resolution do you want?
1680x1050 to 1920x1200
4_Do you need a portable or desktop replacement laptop?
5_How much battery life do you need?
6_Do you want to play games with your laptop? If so then please list the games that you want to with the settings that you want for these games. (Low, Medium or High)?
Right now just World of Warcraft, Left 4 Dead, and Empire: Total War (I plan on grabbing Aion when it's released). I’m shooting for the Med-High range.
7_What other tasks do you want to do with your laptop? (Photo / Video editing, surfing the web, playing music, watching movies, Etc.)
Music, Web Surfing, and Movie watching.
8_How much storage (H.D.D Capacity) do you need?
9_If you are considering specific sites to buy from, please post the links to them.
10_How long do you want to keep your laptop?
At least a couple years.
11_If you would like to mention some other things about purchasing your ideal laptop, post them.
Can’t think of anything.
12_Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.
Anyone that’s reputable.
13_What country do you live in?
I appreciate any and all help!

I agree with Maziar, either of those Sagers would be excellent choices. The 5797 is going to stretch your budget a bit though.
