I have a 30Mbytes USB Flash. When I connect it through the USB, Windows XP maps it with the letter F. But when I try to access files in it a windows message pops up with the following: F:\ is not accessible. The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error.

Please not that I have another usb hard drive which works satisfactoriy. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Can you remake the partition on it or reformat it? It sounds like either data curruption or it has bit the dust. New usb flash drives are very cheap right now so it wouldn't be to painful to buy a new one :) Then you could get a higher capacity one too.

I did format this pen drive on other computer in NTFS. On this computer it is performing flawlessly but when I did use it in my home pc the same message popped up as I have written above. I would assume that this should perform flawlessly on every computer since it performed well on my office computer. Can you please help to fix this desperate problem.

NTFS has a lot of file permission stuff that you really dont need on a pen drive. I recommend formatting them as FAT or FAT32.
Device I/O error sounds like more like a hardware problem though...
