I would like to know if anyone has information/opinion regarding if there is a significant difference between the Plextor PX-716SA and the PX-716A. The "SA" is the SATA version and the "A" is the IDE version.
Specifically what I want to consider is this: I only have 2 SATA interfaces, should I have one hard drive plus the PX-716SA, OR should I set up a RAID0 with two SATA hard drives and then obtain the IDE version (PX-716A).
I mostly plan to use the following system for gaming and day-to-day activities, but do plan to do some minor video and image editing.
Intel D875PBZ
Intel 3.4E Socket 478
512 MB DDR 3200 x2
ATI Radeon X800 Pro
I am in your case, and I wanted my SATA connectors for HD's.
Performance wise, doesn't matter, drive won't push either connection.
So it depends on your particular setup, choice is yours.

And the sign says "You got to have a membership card to get inside" Huh
So I got me a pen and paper And I made up my own little sign</pre><p></font color=red>
I prefer serial ATA. I try to get rid off all the wide Parallel IDE cable. It is the new standard so you can still using it when you upgrade your system.
