Can anyone recommend any good books on the history of miniatures? I'm
particularly interested in ancient miniatures (Chinese, Mesopatamian,
etc.). When was the first recorded use of miniatures?

Well I don't know about recorded use but model soldiers have been found in
Egyptian tombs.

Probably 54's :)

M favourite is a woman buying antique Chinese plates, recovered from a ship
that sank in the 1700's. She asked if they were 'dishwasher proof'.
