rewire problem with sonar 7

Echo MiaMidi sound card with asio drivers (working fine)
vista home premium 64x

I've got reason 4 and sonar 7 running seemingly fine on their own but id like to try and figure out how to rewire them together

the problem is, on both programs, the menu options for rewire are grayed out and i cant even click on it.

in reason, under: Options > Sync > rewire

in sonar, under: Insert > rewire devices
Or: Synth rack > insert > rewire devices

i can see the option there but cannot click on it... what do i need to do, or what settings would most likely attribute to this?
