Can a monitor be used as a tv with a freeview box

I am about to buy my son a new pc with a lcd moniter and as he has limited space in his room, i was wondering if you can hook the freeview box up to the moniter doing away with the need for two screens in his room.

Can you get freeview boxes with HDMI out? You can get plenty of monitors with HDMI in - so the two would make it easy....

The other option would be get a telly with freeview built in, plus HDMI in, and a PC with HDMI (or a DVI to HDMI converter) and then use this as a monitor also...
