System Recovery

To make a long story short i had some problems with my computer and Tech Support for HP told me to do the system recovery. I have used all three disks and windows boots up it then went to a screen of 2 folders transfering files one to another. Now I am at a screen that says:

Do not turn off your pc during this one time setup process.
Your pc restarts several times during this setup process.
Messages may pop up onto your screen. Ignore those messages untill you are prompted to restart or shutdown your pc.

It has been like this for a couple of hours now and i was just curious how long this should actually go for or did my computer freeze and isn't actually doing anything? The computer is a Compaq Presario sr5710y only 2months old. I just had the ram replaced because it had gone bad.
