Word :    Username :

What manufacturers are making 16/9 flat screen ?
And whith which technology : matrice active, tft, tn+, ips, etc ...?
And what quality ?
which one is the best for office, photoshop, games, and of course video ?
Are they HDTV compliant or not ?
And what about Apple Cinema Displays :
20" M9177, 23" M9178, and 30" M9179 ?
When will they be reviewed at THG ?
Because with a DVI plug on the pc we can use them !
And what are their quality ?
What technology are they using : tft, tn+, ips, etc...?
Who is the maker of their film ?
Is it true that they are 250 or 270 cd/m2 , and 400:1 contrast ?
Is it good ? Is it the best ?
And when Apple will release newer and cheaper models ?
Thanks.

I just saw a new Westinghouse model #17w7 on display at Best Buy for about $300US.

It is a 16:9 with native resolution of 1280 x 768. Has DVI and VGA connections and speakers. The specs from Westy is that it has a 10-15 ms reponse rate.

I have not seen any reviews of the model, but it really really looked good on display.

Thanks Rich for the Dell 2405.
I have also read elsewhere that the Dell ultrasharp 2005 FPW, is the twin of the 20" Apple.
But have they same specs and quality ?
And what is the difference between the Dell 2405 and the 2005 ?
An what are the prices of all 3 ?
Thanks.

I know Dell's are quite cheaper than Apples. I also think the specs are better.
Dell 2005 20" is around <A HREF="http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=320-4111&category_id=4009" target="_new"> $525 </A>

Dell 2405 24" is around <A HREF="http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=320-4221&link_number=" target="_new"> $1000, but can be found for a hundred or so less. </A>

Yes it is basically the twin... though there are some differences.

Anandtech did a review of the Apple and Dell head to head found here:

Spoiler:

The 2005FPW won :)

Actually though most of the widescreen lcds out now are 16:10. If you're looking for something for dvd playback, you're going to have it letterboxed vertically.

Yup. I didn't realize that until after I got the monitor.
