I am trying to understand HDCP compliance. As I read it is mainly for content protection of both video and audio content on Blueray and HD-DVD. What I am concerned is how can I get a playback on my LCD TV using HDMI by using DVI output of my VGA card with embedded audio. As I understand most latest ATI and nVidia VGA cards are HDCP compliant. What about audio? Latest nVidia card take SPDIF input to embedded audio but is that HDCP compliant?
ATI cards have a built in sound chip I think, and the Nvidia series of cards requires a SPDIF signal from the motherboard. VGA is not HDCP complaint but DVI & HDMI is I'm pretty sure.
