Audio problem

my audio control will not allow me to adjust volume from maximum to another range

I agree some more detail will be helpful, like what OS, what exactly are you doing. The only thing I can say on this right now is, A- when in doubt reboot or do a cold shut down, some times issues like to linger in memory and there for a reboot does not help so a full shut down would. B- If the issue is that your speakers don't seem to be responding to the slider or the slider does not get saved to the position you fixed it to, you could try reinstalling the software or drivers for it or if the issue just started after some sort of update do a system restore to before you had the issue.

Other then that we will require more info to help troubleshoot the issue.
