Alright, here's my take on the Dell XPS M1730 gaming laptop.

It was really about everything I had anticipated performance wise and a bit more glam aesthetically. Decent mid-range gaming laptop overall.

Anyone else using one? If so, any solution you'd recommend for the heat? This thing is HOT.

ASUS W90 is better because 2 HD 4870's in CF beat 2 8700MGTs in SLI or even 2 8800MGTXs in SLI.
Actually 2 HD 4870s perform like 2 GTX 280M in SLI.

i hear ya, the two 8700M GT's in SLI doesn't go very far performance wise. it's not a high end gaming laptop by any stretch of the imagination, but for a portable and fairly priced mid-range it's ok. im positive there's better out there for prob a better price but tossed it on the dell account for 0% interest rate. but for 1200 bucks I guess I can't complain. I went ahead and ordered two more gigs of DDR2 RAM from newegg and slapped in there.

i've tried a couple of different external coolers but you could still fry an egg on the keyboard lol. heard logitech made some kind of cooler so i'm gonna see if i can find that.

is there such thing as a good external laptop cooler?

thanks!
