Can you play zoo tycoon on anathlon processor?

I just bought an HP desktop. It has an athlon processor. Now my daughter cannot get her games to load-the require a pentium processor according to the box. Did I make a big expensive mistake? is there a way to defeat this?

Should not be a problem, assuming the speed of the Pentium mentioned is not seriously faster than your AMD (and that can be hard to tell from the names these days).

I would guess that the type of video card would be more important.

I'd contact the game's publisher and see what they say.
