Hi ...
I am running a GM5472 Gateway. I am on my second CD burner already. It is dead. It will play cd's and dvd's but not burn to them. I have tried different brands of cd's and also different programs.(roxio and WMP)
One locks up and the other errors out as"can't read disc".

Is it normal to go through the burners this quickly? LOL..

The first time it was no big deal as it was still under warrenty. Well, now it isn't.

Am I the only one with this issue?

Can anyone recommend a "better" replacement brand of burner? HELP!

Do you know the model name of your cd burnner? I suggest you try to update the firmware of your cd drive. Then try to do some troubleshooting on it. You still have chance to fix it other than get a new one. Feel free to visit DigitalSupportTech for getting help.
