I have several questions regarding upgrading and new Home Theatres:
I have an old Sonicblue HT2030 Theater System. Compact, all the parts are in one box, has worked great, but was made back in 2003, so the DVD player is starting to act up. I believe Sonicblue went out of business so there is no support for them.
My first question is, can I upgrade the components in the receiver/tuner (like replace the DVR with a current drive, maybe even a BluRay part). Would it be more involved than swapping the drive and controller card or is this not possible?
My second question is, assuming the answer to the above is no, why doesn't anybody seem to make an all in one home theater? Is it a heat issue or some other technical challenge that I'm not aware of?
I admit the HT2030 spoiled me, and what I'm looking for may just not be feasible technically but after 6 years I would think those issues would be solved by now. I would ultimately like a one console solution, with built in HD TV tuner, AM\FM tuner, BluRay dver and VCR for old vhs tapes that I still have. Is there anything like that on the market that I'm not aware of?
