Lately, windows explorer has started locking up randomly in xp pro.

Does this program periodically require reinstallation, repair or what.

Thanks for any advise.

Try to find out the reason behind it.
Open Control Panel|Adminisrative Tools|Event Viewer.
Check here if you get any clue.

Scan your system with latest virus definitioned antivirus.Also use
spybot,search and destroy,cwshredder,adaware.Run all the latest versions
in safe mode.

I've noticed this on several machines after installing sp1. SP2 does not
seem to have fixed it. The only cure I found was to revert to XP without SP1
or 2. Fortunately, this only happens on a few machines.
