Dell Laptop M 1530 not connecting with adaptor

Hello and thank you for looking at my post.

Over the last few days, when my adaptor was connected to my laptop, it would suddenly go on Battery mode and I would fiddle with the power cord and it would go recognize the power source. This happened a few times each day for a week.

All of a sudden one morning, the laptop was dead and wouldn't start up. It does not receive power from the adaptor cord even when I move it around like it used to for the last few days.

The adaptor cord works fine because I tried it on another laptop. I think the problem is with the little pin on the laptop that accepts the cord.

Has anyone seen a similar problem and know how I could fix it?
