Looking for microphone for Acer laptop

Wondering if I buy a microphone for my Acer Aspire laptop will it work? or is there a microphone already built in? Anything new on this?

Depending on model, mine has camera and mike, it also has a plug for a mike, external microphones will perform better, depending on what you buy.
