First Theresa, what country are you in?

Second, you should only get electrical work done on your house by a licensed Electrician.

Why?

Well ... apart from someone getting electrocuted, there is also the fire hazzard, and possibility of being sued by the owner (if your in a rental) or, your insurance not paying out in the event of fire damage (even if caused by something else).

I strongly suggest you pay a licensed electrician to do the work.

Mains electricity is not forgiving ... you only live once.
