I have a handspring palmtop (deluxe) which is second hand. It is to replace
my old one which I dropped and cracked the display screen!! It still works
but obviously I can't write to it with the stylus.
The one I have purchased:
a few seconds after I have synchronised it to Palm Desktop which it does
successfully, stops and gives the message that there is a Fatal Error! and
that 'Data/Manager.c, Line:4348, Invalid uniqueID passed'. When I switch it
off, it comes on again after a short while, with same message and proceeds
to run the batteries down . It obviously does not like being switched off. I
did change the user name by the way.
Before I did a synch, I performed a hard reset on it and asked for delete
all.
Anyone have any ideas??

My idea is fairly pragmatic: Take them both apart. Put the display
from the crashing one into the one with the broken display. Be careful
with the plastic clip that holds the display's cable in place so
that you don't break the clip.
If you don't feel confident doing it yourself, ask a friend who is
experienced taking apart things and successfully getting them back
together again. It's really not too hard a job if you're careful
and you have some aptitude for that kind of thing.

I am stupid!! I was trying to synch my own data, using the previous owner's
user name. When I deleted my old user name and created a new one for myself,
everything was fine!!
Thanks for your help anyway. No need for a screwdriver now. I have learned a
lot from my fiddling!
cheers--
