Over the last 6 mos, my directv has been acting up. Thought I would be able to get fios by now, but they're having easement issues. The dish, etc is 7-plus years old. At first, one line was out occasionally, so I couldn't get some channels. Resetting/unplugging the DVR fixed that. Now, it appears both lines are out. I'm getting no signal on either line (going through the Directv menu prompts for trouble shooting) and the transponder is 1 (1-32). The receiver does dial out to the Directv phone line, but not certain if that means anything.

I'm in way over my head. Hubbie is mechanically inclined, but I'd like to know I'm on the right track (or have a fair chance at that) before attempting to replace the lnbs, if that could help. Should I research other potential problems? Do these lnbs come w/instructions or is there a good website? Hubbie trimmed any suspect bushes outside, checked connectors and dish placement. I don't want to sign a 2 yr agreement to get new parts, since we expect fios (hopefully, soon) and at $60 a month for basic service w/directv, I think we can do better.
many, many thanks for any help and advice - my 2 yr old is ok, but my 4 yr old is going to start rebelling soon...
