Every now and then...I turn on my p.c and all the desktop icons have shuffled
positions !! Nothing new has been installed or deleted . I,m confused !! Any
ideas ??

It happens. One thing you can do is run the edit on Kelly's site, line
188, "Add Save & Restore Desktop Layout to Menu" at
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

This will add two menu entries to the right click menu displayed when
right clicking on a blank area of the desktop - Save Desktop Icon
Layout and Restore Desktop Icon Layout.

Save the layout and restore when glitch like this happens.
