disc error

I have an IDE hard disc, used inside an USB case to be a mobile storage. It works fine as storage devices but when I pulled that hard disc out to work as primary disc during OS installation , the boot up process says "disc error" and asking for restart. What error exactly it is or what is wrong with the disc.

Do you have the cdrom drive set as the first boot device in the bios? It sounds like your hard drive is set before the cdrom. It will give an error before ever trying to boot off the cdrom.

I think I always set the CD to be the first boot drive.
