I'll try to explain as simply as possible. I'm trying to get my tv to become my primary display. The Tv is an older model Samsung projection tv (PCL5415R) which has 1080i and 480p component connections in the back.

When hooking up the computer to the tv from a DVI to a Component cable is where i'm having issues with the resolutions.

At the lower resolutions (640x480) it displays about 1/4 of the actual screen, and freaks out when muliple colors are displayed,

When using the High resolution (1920x1080) the picture is clear but a black vertical bar is shown in the middle and partial displays are on either side. They are also compacted to have a longated look on either side.

Side note, i've run through every possible resolution and refresh rate and i have a monitor hooked up through the vga port so that i can adjust things.

My other option is using the mini din 9 pin to a svideo or yellow vga plug.
