This is regarding a Seagate ST1 compact drive I popped out of a Rio Carbon. The 5gb drive would be perfect in my Hand held device....but the most recent drives to come out (much to my chagrin) have a firmware update that only permits it to work in IDE mode.....and my handheld is not able to read any card in that mode.

Can anyone tell me if its possible to rewrite the firmware on a compact flash drive? I know its possible....just HOW to do it is another matter.....anyone have info on this?
