Can i run 4x512 @ 400mhz with a ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe? I have the mobo and currently am running 2x512 geil @ 400mhz and 2.5. I'm planning on buying another 2x512 of the same. However, if this is going to knock my speed down to 333 then i'm not interested.

I'd like to also say, that yes i realize none (that i currently know of) of the previous mobos out there will run 4x512 @ 400mhz [3200]. By all means correct me if i'm wrong here; unless you're going to call up some obscure xeon system or something that happens to run at those speeds with more then 3 sticks of 3200 ram.

In response to the possiblity that 4x512 is not possible: Is this a limitation of the CPU or Mobo or what? Since the mem controller is on-chip, i would assume it would be a problem of the cpu now, instead of the mobo.

Thx Mem Man!

I have been waiting on a response from them for some time heh.

<edit> Ok, read through the second link, and forum on [H] and artical on x-bit. So I'm still a little confused. To verify, i can set the ram to 400 and it will stick, right? I was planning on 4x512 of ds ram (the ram i currently have is double sided [geil 2.5 3200]). If i have to run it at 2T, that's ok. I want to see the difference in game, EQ2 and HL2. And if i dont notice a difference, i have another machine i can throw it in, that i've been wanting to oc anyway. 2500+ currently with 2700 ram.

Yea, i don't think it'll affect hl2 at all. However, eq2, has a memory leak, that seems to be from zoning. Or, 2/3s of EQ2 players are convinced there is one anyway. So more ram would help there, because my hd does go crazy, even not including the act of zoning. Zoning, is loading a new map (amongst other things) for what it's worth. The reason i would support the idea there is some sort of memory leak, is simply because the longer you play the game, the slower it runs. Ack...bloody computer...scroll button is screwed up...i can't fix my spelling error "thre". Grr. Oh well. (HA!...fixed it...it let me edit it later.)

Lovely...just got an email from tech support concerning my graphics card. They said to make sure i plugged in the card (6800 gt)...After i said in the email i sent them, that i had it plugged in...Man i hate tech support sometimes...

It's not worth saying unless it takes a really long time to say!
Edited by apesoccer on 02/21/05 09:48 AM.
