Old APC Smart-UPS

I got a old APC Smart-UPS UPS that someone gave me while they were upgrading. I tried to plug it into my computer but when in tried to install Power chute 2.0, the oldest Power Chute I could find it would pop up a error that would say that it couldn't find a UPS plugged into my computer and to check my USB ports. The problem with is that since my ups is old it only has a serial port on it wont connect to a USB. Does anyone have a way to connect it to my computer without buying some special cables or something. Please help!

  1. If you do you not have a serial port on your motherboard's I/O panel you will need a serial to USB adapter cable. They can be bought for less than $10.
