Hey, I'm new here but it looks like a good place to get a question answered. I'm in high school and I want a laptop to do some general computing like Microsoft Office applications but more importantly I want a laptop where I can do some programming. I program mainly Java using Eclipse and I want a laptop with good performance, but portability is not an issue. The majority of my programming will be 2D games but I'll also be doing some work with sorting algorithms so I need power. I would like decent battery life (3+ hours) and a screen around 15-16 inches (but it's not a problem to go about an inch in either direction). My budget is 800 dollars at the absolute maximum, so if possible I wish that noone would suggest Macs. After some research here are some I have found.

5_How much battery life do you need?
at least three hours, preferrably four or five

mainly programming, general multitasking and student stuff

10_How long do you want to keep your laptop?
3+ years
11_If you would like to mention some other things about purchasing your ideal laptop, post them.
12_Please tell us about the brands that you prefer to buy from them and the brands that you don't like and explain the reasons.
