I have a PS3 80 gig model, onkyo s5200 7.1 audio system, im connecting my hd/dvr cable box from comcast (pa) via HDMI, and PS3 Via HDMI to the above mentioned receiver.
The Receiver's HDMI is pass thru only. which means video, NO AUDIO. so, i have the 2 optical cables connected to the receiver as well. my question.

How does the PS3 xmit audio via optical, i read somewhere that it was 5.1, NOT 7.1...
that being said, whats the point of buying Blue Ray movies, I currently have just over 100 myself. the Onkyo receiver will Simulate 7.1 buts its not a true 7.1..

Is there a fix for this coming, or already out??

Most Blu-rays don't come with 7.1 anyways, so no problem.

just about all of the ones that i have are 7.1
