I have an HP photosmart 935xi digital camera. I took a couple of 5-10 second
videos using the camera, then used the HP Imaging software to upload the
videos to my PC. When I try to view the videos on my PC, I get that annoying
"<program> has encountered an error and needs to close... report error to
microsoft" error. The only program I can open the videos with is Quicktime.
I called HP support and after a total 6 hours on the phone with their tech
support, I had uninstalled and reinstalled all HP software on my computer,
Windows Media Player, Real Player and both of my professional video editing
softwares after the tech guys found out I could view the .mpgs just fine on
the camera LCD and if I uploaded them to the web to view. They could also
view them just fine from their PCs.
So then I had to reinstall Windows XP. The last guy I spoke with at HP told
me if I had any problems after reinstalling XP to contact Microsoft because
it must be an operating system problem. So here I am, trying to find the
answer to my problem.
The only software I can open .mpgs recorded using my HP photosmart digital
camera is made by Apple. Can anyone out there help me with this? I'd really
like to import them into video editing software but get that darn error
message every time I try.
