I am wondering if a basic digital video recorder box exists and if so, where can I find one?

It doesn't have to be HD, it doesn't have to have a tuner or tv guide built in. It just has to take a composite or coax signal, and perform the basic functions of a VCR or DVD recorder, only recording to a hard disk (or usb, CF or some other digital media) without needing to be connected to a computer. Does such a thing exist?

Hi - You may also consider this device:

I have the original iRecord and it works great. I am considering the iRecordPro, and if you don't care about HD, then it's probably a good buy. Note that it provides a means to record directly to a USB device, but it does not handle play-back. You'll need a PC to drive play-back.
