the thermaltake smart fan 2 has a thermal sensor on it and I was wondering if i could hook the thermal probe, from my Thermaltake Smart Fan 2, up to my video card and monitor the temps of my video core on my computer. I'm asuming that when you hook the FAn to the 3 pin slot on my gigabyte ga-k8ns socket 754 board that it will detect the temps as well as the speed of my system fan. Or is that wrong logic. I'm not evern sure if the thermal probe on the fan can stand the temps of the video card. any thoughts.
The 3wires on the fan are just +12v, -12v, rpm monitor. There is no thermal detection capability on those wires. The temp probe on the fan is just a way of auto adjusting fan speed to temperature, you cant monitor it.
If you want to monitor your vid card temps you will need to get little 5.25" bay lcd/temp sensor device or a fan controller with temp sensors.
