Do you ever actually help anyone out here?

If you do I must have missed it, I see your comments in the Help Sections all the time, but nothing of any worth to anyone, more like an annoyance than a Help, so are you just a lost tourist or building up your post count?

This is a pretty interesting review since I'm a Plextor fan myself, but the performance is very disapointing to say the least, and not really a viable replacement option for IDE optical drives yet, pricewise and performance wise.

What about any other drives besides that plextor? While no optical drive out there can currently flood the ATA133 interface, working with those cables is a pain, and the price of the plextor keeps me from going for it.

i don't think your missing rediculous record breaking speeds. Chill out for a few months and im sure ton's of new drives will be out for SATA.

Before you worry about sata drives, make sure you motherboard can handle these technologies.

standard parallel drives work fine still. unless you work in cd manufacturering i wouldn't worry about the switch over just yet.

As I said, I know that an optical can't flood the IDE line, let alone a SATA line. The only reason I want SATA optical drives is to clean up cable management, cause IDE cables are horrible to work with, even if you get the round ones.

Who cares about speed. fastest DVD-ROM can't even use all ATA33 can offer.

As emogoch sadi, it's all about the l337 cables.
