Hello I have the Dell XPS 435 which is basically the same computer. Dell changed the name to Studio XPS 9000.

It's a great computer! I recomend that you have at least 6GB of ram, because Windows Vista 64 bit always uses 1.5GB of ram. When I click on Dell Support Center then click system information and click memory it shows you "Total Memory" and "Available Memory" which is always 4.5GB. Also this computer is very big and weighs over 40 pounds. I paid $1,419.00 for the computer alone. The price of the computer is not bad considering that the computer comes with a 23" monitor. You will also be able to play the latest games, I play Crysis all the time.

This computer is fast!

The core i7-920 is designed to use memory in sets of three - so it seems strange that it would come with 4 GB. Is that 2 x 2 GB?

It's a bit crazy but the XPS 9000 offers:
3GB DDR3 Tri-Channel SDRAM at 1066MHz - 3 DIMMs
4GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1066MHz - 4 DIMMs
6GB Tri-Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1066MHz - 6 DIMMs
8GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1066MHz - 4 DIMMs
9GB DDR3 SDRAM at 1066MHz - 6 DIMMs
12GB Tri-Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1066MHz - 6 DIMMs
24GB Tri-Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1066MHz - 6 DIMMs (a +$3,000 option)

Has anyone installed Linux on this machine? Was wondering whether Linux supports this machine or not...
