Laptop No Sound or Display?

I have a friends Laptop that I am trying to get running and it doesn’t look good.
It’s a Dell Imperion B120 and the only things that seem to be working is the power adapter and the battery.

The charge battery light works normal when charging and the power & battery light are on at proper times.
The Hard Disk light comes on steady and the keyboard lights flash briefly at turn then stay off regardless of keyboard activity. There is no sound or display at all and the optical drive doesn’t seem to have power and won't eject other than manually with a pin.

I,m in over my head and hate to start replacing things as the machine isn’t worth a big investment. Any thought on what may be the problem or things to check would be greatly appreciated
