would like to buy some pc 3700 ram for overclocking. I don't want to overclock for a while but dont want to buy more pc 3200 and then when i get ready to overclock take out the pc3200 and put in pc 3700. would be a waste of money. Is there some way of running it with my socket 754 board Gigabyte K8 triton board at pc 3200 speed untill i get ready to overclock. Right now I have a stick of 512mb pc3200 memory in my mother board right now can you run pc 3700 with pc 3200.

You'll have no trouble at all. PC3700 will probably have looser timings (3,3,3,8 or so) so just set your speeds acordingly so you don't ball up the other stick. Put the PC3700 stick in slot 1 and the PC3200 in slot3.

PC3700 runs fine at PC3200 speed, as well as PC2700 speed, PC2100 speed, and PC1600 speed.

Same thing. the "4000" is kindof like the top speed of a car - it can run just fine slower (70 on the highway, 35 in town, etc.), but its capable of 4000.

In the bios - probably under "chipset features" or some similar name. Hmm... id Gigabyte the one that hides all their overclocking settings? If so, then there's some special key combination like Ctrl-F1 while sitting on the bios screen to access that section... Don't have a GB mobo so I'm not sure.
