W7 doesn't let me disconnect USB HD

I got 3 external USB HD (2 WD, 1 maxtor) and when I try to disconnect them W7 tells me it can't because something is using them. With Vista I had no problem at all, what can i do?
I already removed the indexing files from each HD but i still can't disconnect them.

Some software or most likely the OS is using your drive. That has happened to me too. I just shut it down, unplugged it and rebooted. I actually never figured out why it happened cuz it never happened again. Is this a regular occurrence?

Yes... happens every time!
