it would be worth upgrading if where and AM2 system (would be able to upgrade to a Phenom II 9xx), supported at least 2 Gb of DDR2 and PCI-Express.

Otherwise, you need to buy a new system, and this time do noy buy a complette machine, but assembly it yourself. is the best of the best.

Budget upgrade path :

Frys had an asus mobo w\ Athlon II 620 ( quad core ) for $119 on friday-thursday this week... pretty good deal. Add 2gb ddr2 to that and a mid range under $80 video card ( ati 4670?) and you'd be fairly well upgraded for around $300.

Or you can just shell out $400-500 for a new system.

If you can reuse your case and DVD that gets you off to a start. What PSU do you have?

If you want to start with reusable parts - itad's alternative is one way to go. But obviously if you can afford a little more you can get a lot more computer - what is your budget? HOw do you use computer - what applications and specs?

If serious about wanting to rebuild the one you have, see the stickie in the new build forum that shows the list of data to provide so people can better help you.
