I'm looking for a new hp workstation that will be used for Indesign cs4, Photoshop, Illustator, Acrobat, Bridge, Suitcase Fusion (lots of fonts loaded) and some office applications. Most of them running at the same time. Windows7 64bit looks like the best operating system. Monitor is a 24" hp lp2475.
I'm not sure which workstation is the best choice. duo or quad, xw4600, z400 or z600 (great looking machine) how much memory, what graphic card (Quadro FX1800 is in some bundles, looks good).
What is the right choice given the circumstances?
O_O quadros are ridiculously expensive(they're 2000$ on amazon) and they're no better than a great penforming sub-400$ card. their specs are actually worse and they're hell more expensive.
get a 1792 mb gtx 275 for 280$ and you'll be ok with all you do and more.
4gb ddr3 should be ok, and put a good quad core in there, graphic desing needs more cpu and ram than graphics power
Quadro fx1800 isn't that expensive. It's about $ 500,-. But still not cheap... When the gtx275 will do, even better.
4gb mem is enough? What do you consider a good quadcore?

4gb is more than enough even for vista. if you have windows 7, wich is much faster and takes alot less memory, then it will be even better.
a phenom ii x4 955 or 940 if you have an AMD mobo
or a q9550 or core i5 if you have an intel mobo, i7s are too expensive.
