When adding a new ram module, do the CAS's have to be the same? I.e, can you use one module that has a 3.0 latency and another that has a 2.5 or 2.0 latency?
From what I've read here, all modules will default to the slowest latency.

Thanks

Yeah, but both moduals will default to the highest common CAS rating between them.

A CAS2 and a CAS3 stick in the same system will forse both to run at cas3

In some cases, the memory modules need to be programmed to a certain latency in order to work properly with the motherboard.

An obvious example is with PC-133. Many PC-133 motherboards do not support CL2.
