I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FW250J laptop
Specs:
Intel Centrino Core 2 Duo P8400 @ 2.26 2.27 GHz
4 GB RAM
Windows Vista 64 bit

Soon I'm planning on upgrading to a Hitachi 500gb Travelstar 7k500, a 7200rpm 2.5" harddrive and then loading a fresh copy of Windows 7 Home edition.

My question is...Will I have a any trouble with drivers? Screen, touchpad, Wi-Fi, sound card, video, etc, etc, etc?

I really want rid of all the crapware Sony and every other computer manufacturer loads on their systems!

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Shouldn't really be any issue. I put the RC version of Win 7 on my laptop which is 2 years old and actually came with XP and everything is running fine. The only things I had to find myself were graphics drivers (straight from NVidia), touch pad and my Card Readers. The touch pad and card readers are actually running drivers that were creating for Vista and are running fine. I don't think you should have any issues.

Dont worry you will be alright, on the night.
You need to get rid of all those "crapwares" out of sight.

The choice of Windows 7 is sure right.
Smile beacuse the future of your mobile computing looks very birght :) .
