I had a Dell E1505, with a 3945ABG. This card was great, worked well with Kismet, and other networking tools. Loved it.

I had to up(down)grade to a Dell 1440, and it has this dinky little mini PCI card. I opened it up, and it has the same connections, but it's half the size. Do I need to hae the little screw to hold it in place? Does that serve as a grounding point? There is no where to screw down the larger 3945 card into the slot, but the connectors are the same.

Thanks!

Yes, you can still use the card provided you find a way to hold it down. Some manufacturers don't even include screws in mini-pci designs. They aren't grounds.

Well, card fits in the slot fine and works, but there's no way to secure it to the board. so it flops around if the laptop moves/ Thanks to Dell for a crappy design. :)
