Just got a sony FW900 24" wide crt, It is actually a 16x9 display instead of the 16x10 lcd, and my video card only supports 16x10 resolutions, so at those resolutions, my circles and squares are too tall. I have a Radeon X850xt nd there are no 16x9 resolutions available. I need 1600x1024, but theres no option, I know may people have these awesome monitors, and there must be a solution, I have tried powerstrip, and I can get 1600x1024, but the sides are cut off, I also tried rage3d tweak and cant get it to work. Please can anyone offer help.

I think that by installing the monitor drivers your problem will be solved. If you haven't got a CD, try downloading them or selecting that particular monitor in the relevant menu at the control panel.

I'm sure this reply is way too late to be of help to the original poster, but I wanted to clarify that the FW-900 (and the sister HP A7217A) does indeed have a 16 x 10 aspect ratio. This is the reason that the recommended resolution is 1920 x 1200, whereas the 16 x 9 ratio such as for HD is 1920 x 1080.

I know this because I have owned 5 of them myself :>

P.S. It may sound obvious, but make sure that the screen is stretched to fill the entire viewing area for 16 x 10 resolutions to avoid squares turning into rectangles. If you are displaying a normal 4:3 resolution such as 1280 x 960 or 1600 x 1200, you will need to leave blank space on either side of the screen to avoid rectangling, either eyeballing squaredness, or using a ruler on the screen.
