I have been reading about the new hp dvd burners with lightscribe technology, and it looks like a great technology, adn i see that benq is bringing one out soon to.

But i swear that i remember about 2 years ago yamaha had an external burner that had this lightscribe technology, or one simmilar to it, cuz it would do the exact same thing, with burning whatever you wanted into the label side of the disk.

Can any of you verify this im sure that i remember seeing it though

The Yamaha CRWF1 was using a technology called t@too(tatoo,or something that sound like that.) It was not burning on the label side, but on the unused part of the write side of the disk, so not really useful.
Do a google and you'll find the info
