My login screen on my dell inspiron 1525 won't work

I turned on my computer today, which is a dell inspiron 1525 with vista, and it loaded perfectly, I typed in my password and pressed enter but nothing happened, I pressed the arrow key and still nothing happened. If I press the ease of access button or the shutdown button, it freezes. I’ve held down the power button and restarted it multiple times and I’ve taken out the battery but no change. I can boot it in safe mode and logging in works, and I’ve tried a system restore but that didn’t work either. I there anything I can do without having to erase everything off my laptop??
