Laptop to LCD TV

I was wondering if there's anyway when connecting my laptop up to my LCD TV to use the resolution from the lcd and not from my laptops monitor. My laptop monitor's rez is low compared to my hdtv which is a 1080p. How can i get my laptop to use the hdtv's rez. and not my laptops monitor rez. I have a Toshiba Satellite L305-S5915.

Are you just talking about HD content like blueray? Cause i figured it out and it's currently displaying at 1920x1080 @60 Hz. Only problem i'm having now is that the screen isn't to the size of the tv even though the Samsung manual says that 1920x1080 for pc is the optimal setting. I've tried the Auto Adjust from the TV and i've even tried the tools on the tv to move the screen but I can't stretch it to fill the screen up.

It's Intel Chipset 4 express. and i would say about maybe 1/3 maybe 1/4. It's for sure not widescreen. Looks more fullscreen then wide.
