My scientific cable box doesnt connect with composite cables to my tv

Hello,i havesa cable box when I connect the composite cables to the composite in on the tv it only shows a distorted picture?a cd player works fine with the composite cables

If you are sure the cable is fine then make sure you have the RED (right audio), WHITE (Left audio) and YELLOW (video signal) correctly hooked up on both ends.
