I have tried to transfer pictures to my Kodak Easy Share software. I connected the camera to the port - connected the USB cable to the port and the computer and the pictures are not transferring. The shutter on the camera is not opening to view the pictures. I am wondering if the USB port is not working.

Try connecting another USB device and see if that is recognised.

If it is, get a USB camera card reader and stick the Kodak's card in it.

Sounds like the USB device is not being recognise. Try going to device manager, Right click to [My Computer or Computer] then click on [Manage], click [Device Manager] and on the right pane of the window, right click on any of the devices then click [Scan for hardware changes]. This will scan any changes on your hardware, if new device is recognise, it will try to install a driver, if your device is already recognise and not working then look for USB devices that driver might not installed properly or damage. Your device must be connected during the test of course. Check kodak cd and install the driver to replace the old or damage driver.
