Comp freezes with dvds

Hi i know there is a video section but i thought there was more chance of an
answer here.

I Have both power dvd and Nero showtime. They run dvds from the disk fine,
but when trying to load dvds saved to the computer they freeze. It happens as
soon as i click load from hard drive and before i even get to select a video
to watch.
